Your Brain Is Not a Court of Law

When I say your brain is not a court of law, I mean that literally.

I’ve worked as an attorney, and in a real courtroom you don’t get to speculate. You don’t get to guess. You don’t get to say, “Well, it feels true.” You have to present actual evidence and meet a real burden of proof. Assumptions get challenged. Emotion doesn’t count. Everything has to be laid out clearly.

Anxiety doesn’t work like that.

It fills in the gaps, jumps straight to conclusions, and treats fear like evidence. A random thought shows up and suddenly your brain acts like the case is airtight.

No evidence submitted.
No objections allowed.
Just, “This feels serious, so we’re panicking.”

That’s why anxiety feels so convincing. Not because it’s accurate, but because it never has to prove anything. It doesn’t follow rules. It doesn’t require facts. It just speaks loudly and confidently.

The mistake most people make is trying to argue better with their thoughts. But you can’t win a fair trial in a courtroom that doesn’t follow courtroom rules.

The real shift isn’t learning how to out-logic anxiety.
It’s realizing you don’t have to step into the courtroom at all.

Once you stop treating every anxious thought like legal testimony, it loses its authority fast.

If you want to stop taking your thoughts at face value, this is exactly what I walk through inside Internal Dialogue Mastery.
