When I Couldn’t Walk to My Car

There was a season where I would walk out to my car to go to the gym… and turn around.

I wanted to go. Nothing was wrong.

But as soon as I hit the driveway, that surge would rise.

And I would go back inside.

At the time, I thought, “This is just anxiety.”

But what really got to me wasn’t the feeling.

It was this:

I had led teams. Built businesses. Handled pressure.

And now I couldn’t walk to my car without second-guessing myself.

That does something to your identity.

Looking back, I didn’t understand the real problem.

It wasn’t just anxiety.

It was the internal warning loop underneath it.

The quiet prediction in my head: “This could happen again.”

Every time I turned around, I trained my brain that the threat was real.

And my world slowly shrank.

Here’s the hidden cost for high performers:

You don’t just feel anxious.

You hesitate.
You play smaller.
You operate below your potential.

Anxiety becomes the ceiling on your impact.

That was the part I didn’t see at first.

I thought I needed more information. More tips. More reassurance.

What I actually needed was clarity about what was driving the pattern underneath the anxiety.

Once I understood that layer, everything started shifting.

Not because I got more advice.

Because I finally addressed the right problem.

If you are ambitious and something invisible keeps stopping you in your tracks, start with clarity.

Read the free Anxiety Warrior Blueprint. It will help you see the patterns that are quietly limiting your performance.
